Business Central 2026 Release Wave 2 (Version 29): What’s New?

Hi All,

Every new release brings a long list of features, and it is hard to know where to start.

So here is a short summary of what is new in the latest Business Central release.

What is the latest release?

The latest release is Business Central 2026 release wave 2, which is version 29 (BC29). It has been available since early October 2026.

What's new?

More AI and agents

Payables Agent gets expanded capabilities. There are better tools to manage and monitor agent tasks, easier permission management for agents, and a new Copilot chat experience in public preview.

The chat can combine business data from Business Central, web results and general knowledge. Planning and approval of business trips can also be handled directly through the agent.

Reporting
You can automate report outputs and bookmark frequently used list views and analysis tabs.

E-documents
Another step towards more automated and standardized processing of electronic business documents.

Shopify, distribution and manufacturing
Improvements to the Shopify integration, plus enhancements for distribution and manufacturing. For manufacturers, completing a quality inspection can now automatically fill in the passed and failed quantities.

For developers

• Faster data loading with an improved data model for table extensions
• DEV extensions remain installed during the environment update

One thing to keep in mind

This release ends support for Microsoft UI page SOAP web services. If any integration still uses SOAP, it is worth checking and planning the change.

Why is this interesting for BC implementations?

The focus of this release is clear: more AI agents, more automation and better reporting. For BC consultants, it is a good reason to go back to existing customers and show them what they can use now. Features like the agents are worth a conversation before suggesting a third-party solution.
